Acts of torture against Street Children
Last Wednesday in the Hann district of Dakar a 12 year old boy, nicknamed Kirikou by his peers, was tortured by a security guard who alleged he had stolen some clothes.

For most people February the 7th was just an ordinary day, but at Village Pilote it was party time! Lots of activities transporting the children back in time to a Christmassy atmosphere. Football matches, carnival, fancy dress, a bouncy castle and presents illuminated the day. Even the weather conspired with us and was chilly.
The US Ambassador visits Village Pilote, Lake Rose
On February 6th the US Ambassador, Lewis Lukens, visited our site at Lake Rose. He was accompanied by his wife Mrs Lukens, Mr Patrick Henderson the director of USAID and some officials from the Embassy.

Gala Benefit Evening - we did it again!!!

In order to celebrate the end of 2011 in style, we chose to spend an evening with our partners and friends in a relaxed atmosphere in the open air. On the 9th of December, the “Le Jardin” restaurant, which has been entirely redecorated, provided the setting for an event which lasted well into the night.

EMIRATES AIRLINES DUBAI RUGBY SEVENS
Something which hasn’t been talked about much, so you probably haven’t heard about it, is the rugby sevens which kicked off in Dubai on December the 1st.
Why is this of interest to Village Pilote? Loic, and some friends of our association flew out last weekend to take part in this global event to test their metal against teams from all over the world.
Reintegrating children in difficulty worldwide - on RFI (Radio France International)
During her programme “7 billion neighbours”, Emmanuelle Bastide discussed with her guests, innovative projects from all over the world whose vocation is the reintegration of children who have had a difficult past. Testimonials illustrate how associations who fight for this cause manage to give these children a second chance.
Village Pilote partner Kirène
Village Pilote is very happy to be able to count Kirene among its new partners. In fact, Senegalese companies such as Kirène, Batimat et Batiplus support our work by making both financial and material gifts. Other types of collaboration are envisaged; in particular work experience programmes at Kirene and Batiplus for the young residents of Springboard.
Meet and greet visit by students from Lycée Jean Mermoz
On October the 10th a Year 11 class from Lycee Français Jean Mermoz arrived at our residential centre Springboard for a meet and greet day to swap ideas and experiences. The visit was a follow up to the showing of a film about Village Pilote 10 days earlier in the Lycee’s amphitheatre.
Volunteer's Day France
To celebrate the French France Volontaires day, Village Pilote, and other associations who are partners of France Volunteers, met on Saturday October 1st 2011, from 10am, at the French Institute Léoplod Sédar Senghor.
Going home to Touba
Since the beginning of the year, around 50 children have been reunited with their families, in the Dakar region and in the interior of Senegal. Our objective, to reintegrate them into society and into school. These children are former delinquents who have been cared by us at The Refuge after a period of living precariously, surviving on the streets of the capital and its suburbs. By joining the centre, they have chosen to follow the process of stabilisation and psychosocial monitoring designed to prepare them for a new life with their families, far from the streets.

The association "on va s'marrer" (we will have fun) organised their 3rd Electronic Pic Nic, at Guidel-Beach to support Village pilote.
Parent's Day
Parent’s Day took place on the 11th of June 2011 at Village Pilote, Lac Rose.
On this very emotional day, the children were able to reconnect with their parents’. In a very solemn atmosphere everyone was able to share their experiences; the children, new and longer term residents, but also the counsellors and the parents.
Dakar'elles 2011
On June the 4th the agency EXP Momentum organised the fifth Dakar’elles, the most anticipated women's race in the capital. Over and above the love of the sport, this event has a humanitarian goal.

Gala Benefit Evening Village Pilote
On May 7th, Village Pilote organised its first Gala Benefit Evening in a private garden in Fann Residence
125 people came and supported this special event.
A 3 course dinner, tombola and a dance floor ingredients for a relaxed and festive ambience.
The evening enabled Village Pilote to riase a little over one million CFA francs.
